Lost in the Wonderland

After meeting my midwife yesterday, I decided to spend some time and money on baby stuff.

The option here in Iceland is not so much, there’s a local brand called iglo + indu, found 2008 by fashion designer Helga Ólafsdóttir. They use prints like puffins and very good material.

Yet I like to have more choices. Petit Bateau and Bonpoint are the first ones came into my mind. When I lived in Paris, I loved Petit Bateau, not only for their super soft material, but the clean design.

Therefore, as I googled Petit Bateau, a website called Babyshop came first. They have a broad range of infant clothing, also strollers, car seats, toys, ect.

At further search, I finally came to Aden + Anais, which by far my favorite. The Australian-born founder Raegan Moya-Jones is the person behind the brand. Prince George and Blue Ivy Carter were both spotted in her chic baby swaddle. The material she use is muslin.

It is a cotton fabric of plain weave. It is made in a wide range of weights from delicate sheers to coarse sheeting. It gets its name from the city of Mosul, Iraq, where it was first manufactured. Early muslin was handwoven of uncommonly delicate handspun yarn, especially in the region around Dhaka, Bengal. It was imported into Europe for much of the 17th and early 18th centuries.

Design letters

We haven’t bought anything for the baby boy yet except a plate set.

We first saw the forks and knives at the Airport, after coming back home, we decided to buy the whole collection.

It’s a danish design brand, Design Letters, not only for kids, but also homes, offices, kitchens and furnitures.

Design Letters is a Danish Design Company founded in 2009 that first launched wooden letters for wall decoration. In 2011, the brand introduced a design series with typography hand drawn in 1937 by the renowned Danish Architect – Arne Jacobsen.

Future lifestyle

The time has changed, thanks to the new technology.

The edge between people and the machine is getting blur.

We might have a robot maid at home, have cybersex, have flying bus, etc.

And this is not totally insane.

Here’s one german company, they cooperate with Samsung 3D visual eye mask and the phone, invented a set of fitness device, which makes you feel like fly.

Tisane is also called herbal tea, which are usually contain mint, dill, fennel, anis, flowers…etc. Because they’re caffeine-free, thus a perfect drink for pregnant women and for those who doesn’t consume caffeine. They also have digest and calm effect to the body, having one after a meal is just heaven.

I got this bag from a friend in Norway, she picks the herbs from her own garden and dry them.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a big fan of design, art or not, Icelandic design, or Nordic design is something special and outstanding. They use a lot of material from the natural, such as leather, feather, rocks, stones, fur, etc. and most of the time, they’re rather simple and minimalism.
